Our story …
Madi and Robert Mount started their adventure into winemaking after producing a highly acclaimed Zinfandel from a one acre vineyard at their home in Santa Rosa. This positive experience piqued their interest in all aspects of wine production and led to their decision to expand involvement in the wine industry. They purchased a vineyard in the Red Hills AVA in Lake County, California and with the help of their trusted friend, John Dawson, they hired an extraordinary, creative winemaker, Luke Bass.
The Red Hills’ 47 acres grow Malbec, Petit Sarah, and Petit Verdot. In 2014, six acres of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were planted on their property. This wine will be available in 2019.
The Mounts then purchased an additional 44 acre vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the Big Valley Appellation area of Lake County. This is an ideal terrain for producing excellent Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
Madi and Robert’s vision is simply stated: to produce the highest quality and “consumer appreciated” wines on the market. They believe their Lake County wine will compare favorably, to other wines produced in well known neighboring wine-growing regions of California.
To achieve this high degree of excellence, the Mounts have instituted the most current irrigation and fertilization technology, using state- of- the-art winemaking equipment with the majority of the cooperage being new French oak.
Boatique Winery will open July 18, 2015. The concept combines the blending of two passions: the production of high-quality wines and Robert Mount’s amazing collection of restored rare antique wooden boats.
Guests of the winery will be treated to the diverse experience of sipping the highest quality wines while viewing a magnificent collection of award-winning classical wooden boats….all in a stunning setting. After nearly 4 years of construction, Madi and Robert are ready to unveil Boatique Winery. Bob Anderson, their multi talented architect and Ralph Wallen, their industrious and diligent project manager have orchestrated this entire endeavor. Also Bob’s dear college friend, Bill Callaway, a renowned landscape architect with the firm SWA, has been able to design magnificent, lush, and unique landscaping which surrounds the entire winery property.
Lisa Hemenway, a former well known chef and former restaurateur, designed the wineries’ kitchen which will enhance planned special events. And Madi’s dear friend, Judy Greenberg, a nationally well known water color artist, designed their Boatique label.
